Voluntary Internships at Tank:
Gallery Technician
Due to successful program of exhibitions, events since opening Tank is now expanding its premises to include a new shop and storage area. Your role will focus on the production of this space. You will work closely with the director to set up and develop the new part of the premises. You will help to create the right look and feel to the building including the outside space where viability and information need to be enhanced.
Other duties will include assisting with installing and deinstalling exhibitions which will provide an interesting variation of tasks. Making general improvements to the gallery space and assisting with the production of Tank exhibitions and events in other locations across London.
As an intern you will be requested to commit to 1-2 shifts per week. The shifts can be flexible so as to work around the Tank programme. Shifts are from 1pm-6pm from Wed-Sunday.
Working at Tank can give you experience in one of the many exciting spaces in thriving South East London art scene and are especially interested in applicants who have a connection with the area.
We are looking for people who are energetic and ambitious.
Excellent DIY and building skills are required and experience as a labourer, painter/decorator or any manual building jobs are desirable.
An interest in the arts is desirable but not essential.
This job will include working up ladders, carrying and lifting.
Applicants must be physically able to do this.
Setting up a new space hands on is the basis for any good gallery and was exactly what the director did when starting Tank herself. It a great opportunity to see how it works and get stuck in with the development of an up and coming space. Lots of guidance and practical help will be given.
Duration: Three Months
The internships are voluntary, although we may be able to contribute towards travel expenses and are able to provide some food from the Ladywell Tavern, which which we are in partnership.

Sales Internship
Tank is looking for interns and
volunteers to join the Tank team in creating a vibrant experimental
space for all kinds of artistic events.
Tank is a non for profit organisation however we are staring to provide a platform for sales for our artists through our website and by expanding our premises to include a shop. As sales intern you will be involved in the set up and development of the sales web page and the Tank shop over the coming months and will be work closely with the director to achieve this. You will be responsible for insuring agreements with artists are in place, photographing works, uploading images to the website and promoting sales through various different methods.
As an intern you will be requested to commit to 1-2 shifts per week. The shifts can be flexible so as to work around the Tank programme. Shifts are from 1pm-6pm from Wed-Sunday.

Events Manager
Tank is a dynamic space in which art is
created, shown, tested and talked about. Tank is committed to
presenting interesting and challenging contemporary art, produced by
local and international artists. Focusing on installations,
site specific and live art, we encourage experimentation, freedom of
concept, technique, process, material and style. Founded in April
2009 Tank has hosted an ambitious program of exhibitions, talks, film
screenings, workshops, performances and literary events.
As Events Manger intern you will work closely with the director to oversee, manage and host a particular series of events including The Last Fridays organised by the South London Art Map, private views, artist talks, film screening, poetry reading and more.
Duties will include building relationships with artists and local galleries, promoting the events, setting up and hosting and possibly writing. You will be very much a face of the gallery, representing Tank in the wider community and being a point of contact for those wishing to get involved with Tank.
Working at Tank can give you experience in one of the many exciting spaces in thriving South East London art scene and are especially interested in applicants who have a connection with the area.
As Events Manager you will be requested to commit to 2 shifts per week. The shifts can be flexible so as to work around the Tank programme.
One day shifts which will be from 1pm-6pm from Wed-Sunday.
One evening shifts (from 2pm-8pm or 4pm-10pm) on either a Wed, Thurs or Friday subject to the date of the event.
This job is suitable for 20-25year olds.
We are looking for people who are energetic and ambitious.
Excellent computer and writing skills are required.
Confident with great interpersonal skills.
A degree in the arts is desirable but not essential
